The city of Phoenix is located in the U.S. state of Arizona and is often called the “Valley of the Sun” as it often records more than 300 sunshine-filled days each year.
The Grand Canyon is a place of majestic beauty, a place unlike anywhere else in the world. The Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is a steep-sided, very colorful gorge that attracts visitors in the millions each year.
A cultural place of interest in Phoenix would have to be the Heard Museum. Although every city has a museum of some variety, the Heard Museum is particularly distinctive as it has over 32,000 pieces of cultural and fine art. The museum is also home to the annual World Championship Hoop Dance Contest, held in February.
Keeping in line with the desert climate of Phoenix, there are quite a few plant museums that showcase rare and endangered natural flora of Arizona. The Boyce Thompson Arboretum displays over 3,200 different desert plants and boasts that more than 2,500 bird species have been recorded visiting the outdoor museum.
